Kesington restaurant, Kota Laksamana

This restaurant was newly open last year which has now has increased number of patrons through the week competing against wok and pan for the western food market in Melaka. My first visit there was suprisingly pleasant, manager was attentive and service was quick. Food had presentation then.

As the newcomer became more establish you would have noticed improvement in service and so, but not so for this restaurant. Waiters are overworked with only 3 or 4 servicing the whole restaurant which has 3 different areas. My last visit there was horrible. I didn't even have my dinner by 9.30pm.

I was there with my bf and my sister on a weekend for dinner. We arrived there around 7.30pm. Place our orders- mushroom soup, mussels, seafood pasta, lamb rack and chicken veronique. Drinks was serve after numerous reminders after the starters... Mushroom soup arrive first- too salty. Then next mussels- becoming worst..., then my bf's mains arrived lamb rack- he said was OK. Tick tock tick tock... after my bf has finished his plate of dinner then my sister's pasta arrived- creamy but too sweet. Then the waiting game began, I reminded the waiter about 4 times- yes! on the way... yes 5 more minutes. The next table was fed up with the service too, mains were serve to only 1 guest. Then I had observed that, other tables were served before mine! By 9.30 pm i still didn't have my dinner yet! My sister was almost done with hers, and I had enough of waiting... I went to the opposite hawker stall and bought my dinner. Asked my bf to cancel the order and pay the bill. The bill was ask around 10 minutes previously and the BF got fed up and went to pay at the counter.

The food in this establishment is not bad but the service deserves a ZERO. A failing establishment is the one that leaves the customer in hunger and anger. I would never come here again.

my verdict: 2/10 (2 for previous better experience) my 2 cents if the restaurant cant cope with the number of customers then do not put out extra tables!
Location: Kesington restaurant, taman kota laksaman near bei zhan ...very obvious from the main road.

Restoran Woo Ng Kee, Taman Ehsan, Kepong

My birthday was awhile ago... and my family celebrated it at our family favourite restaurant. Cheap, tasty and fast service. It serves duck and many more delectable dishes...my usual favourites are siew ngap, ginger steam fish and crabs!

Siew ngap... juicy and crispy outer skin serve with plum sauce
 Sweet and sour crab
 Ginger steam fish
 Yummy mantao
Butter crabs

Dining here with a family of 6 usually cost us around RM 100 if we ordered prawns... Usual meal with fish cost us around RM70 plus which is quite a good price given in KL. Food wise its yummy plus its always crowded hence if you are there on weekends and during dinner time you would have to wait for a bit .

Location: Taman Ehsan, behind BHP petrol station... my way of going is .... turn to taman ehsan.... follow the road keeep going then reach a roundabout take left then you see the BHP its at the back...

Sushi Kyou Bukit Beruang

A new sushi place has just open recently at Bukit Beruang. Just had a chance to stop by and try over the weekend. It its located at the shoplots on the left opposite Petronas Bukit Beruang. The interior deco is simple and they have very limited selection of food on their menu ranging from maki, udon, bento set, temaki, gunkan and so on... Well I ordered wakame udon, some sushis...

My verdict: 5/10 not the best sushi shop in town. wa zen still on top! they have service tax 10% !%S!%S!!! and the sushi slices were tad too thin and tasteless... its pinkish not the bring orangy colour that I usually have.

Mama's Kitchen, Famous Claypot Lou Su Fan, TTDI

Ah choo, everytime I pass along ttdi to go to my bf's place I would see this shop packed with people. So one fine evening I decided to give the FAMOUS a try...
So we ordered the famous lou su fan in claypot and some fried sui kau...

First hot pipping try... was very smooth leh.... the longer we ate... the yuckier it tasted ... was a mesh of blended pork on top of lou su fan... i think danau kota food court one tasted leaps and bounds better. Next was sui kau.... was next to nothing special... ampang yong tau foo wan is still the best! Disappointing...2 noodles and a plate of sui kau and 2 drinks cost us almost RM 50... Either my tastebuds are weird or the patrons are weird....

My verdict: if u see this shop please stay far away... although it reads FAMOUS!

Ice town is in Melaka, taman kota laksamana

First time I've heard of ice town was in Muar when i visited my sister. So now there is a branch in this new place at taman kota laksamana ,new shop lots facing bei zhan! Mango snow ice is my favs! Besides snow ice they also serve snack food and also malaysian dishes. I tried their butter cream chicken which was very yummy but the portion was tat small for RM 7.90 but the sauce was awesome that they should make butter crab with it!!!

Interiorly, nice and simple deco. Service was also okay. I will definetely go back for somemore snow ice and its a nice place to hang out with friends besides the old kopitiam and mamak! but again obviously have to pay more la for the dessert and aircon...

verdict: 7/10 will be back. nice dessert and hang out place.

Casa Cucina, Modern Italian Restaurant, Taman Kota Laksamana Melaka

Yesterday night went out with a bunch of colleagues to celebrate my belated birthday! Accidentally bought 2 different cakes from Yeast bakery and 1 more is still sitting inside my fridge!

So there is a new restaurant serving semi fine dining just opened at Kota Laksamana, the new block/row behind Kesington and Kota Laksamana food court. Very new, chick and modern. Menu wise still limited choices I guess they are still improving themselves! Food wise, pasta was yummy just al dente! Roast chicken and roast fish was also good. Food presentation classy! Starters of pumpkin soup and brushetta was also good. If you want to go on a date and need a new dinner place here may be one of your choice. Price wise is affordable comparable to Kesington minus the noise and slow service.

 The environment
Pan fried seabass served with roasted potatoes
 Pumpkin soup
 Roasted Chicken with wine sauce
So far they have chicken, pasta and fish for mains. They just added beef and lamb as well (not on the menu yet)

My verdict: 8/10 will definitely go back again (p/s drink can be a bit pricey)

How to get there, from mahkota parade- take the flyover going towards klebang... at the traffic light turn right then turn left again at the shops go to the end and turn right...if you see kesington restaurant and food court you may have just miss the turning in!

Voices Music Cafe, Taman Merdeka Permai

Dear Voices Music Cafe,

Your outlook was very attractive and that was what caught my  attention to come to you. Once I sat down and start examining your every aspect (menu) I find that you are quite pricey but nevermind I shall see what class can you bring to my dining table. I simply ordered a mushroom soup, spaghetti and also a sausage. Simple enough.
First came the mushroom soup, it tasted like it was out of the can plus extra salt. I think Campbell won the battle! Next was my pasta, the portion was not justified by its price, even secret recipe portions are bigger!!! Lastly came the sausage which was served 20 minutes after the pasta... was OK but  not filling. So I proposed that this was my last date with you. You are just pretty on the outside and hollow on the inside with poor inner beauty in all fields.

 The reason why....(judge yourself)
 Exterior Deco

RM 15 for this!

My 2 cents : Don't come here. The big mouth cafe next door had more patrons!
